Most desktop pet apps give you something to look at. Pets Therapy gives you something to look after — and feeding is the simplest, and probably the nicest, way in. It takes about three seconds and it's free.
How to feed your desktop pet
- Open the Pets Interactions window. On macOS it's in the menu-bar icon, or under Settings → Interactions → "Open interactions".
- Pick a pet. The window lists everyone currently on your screen. Select one and its food appears.
- Drag the food onto your pet. Pull it out of the window and drop it on that pet out on the desktop. It'll play its eating animation.
There's a shortcut too: right-click any pet and choose Eat. That row is the only one in the menu that shows a picture — the pet's actual food sits next to the label, so you can see what you're about to hand over.
Every pet has its own food
This is the part people don't expect. The food isn't one generic bowl reused across the library — each of the 87 pets has its own meal, drawn by hand in Aseprite, pixel by pixel. The capybara gets grass. The cat gets fish. The bee gets something a bee would want.
And the app checks. Drop the cat's fish on the capybara and nothing happens — you'll get a gentle "that's the cat's food" instead. It sounds like a small detail, but it's the thing that makes the pets feel like specific animals rather than interchangeable sprites.
There's no hunger bar
Worth saying plainly, because "feed your pet" usually implies an obligation: nothing in Pets Therapy is counting down. Your pet is never hungry, never unhappy, and never worse off for being ignored. Feeding is something you do because you want to watch it happen — and that's the whole mechanic.

Right-clicking a pet gives you whichever of these it knows how to do:

Your pet stops and eats. Available on 88 pets.
💤 Sleep
Down for a nap, about eight seconds. 75 pets.
🌿 Relax
Settles into its idle pose for a moment. 37 pets.
🤗 Cuddle
The affectionate ones only — 22 pets.
The menu is genuinely per-pet: a cat offers Eat, Sleep and Relax; the worm offers Eat and Sleep; a pet house offers nothing at all, because it's furniture. There's also Send love — or just double-click any pet — for a burst of hearts.
Where it works
Feeding works identically on macOS, Windows and Linux. Nothing here is platform-exclusive and nothing is behind a subscription. If you want to give your pets toys as well, that's on playing with your desktop pets.
